14.5 Propagation Delay
Propagation delay is defined as the time taken by the output of the device to rise or fall 50% after the input signal
has risen or fallen past the 50% threshold. Figure 14-5 shows the setup used to measure propagation delay,
denoted by the symbol tPD.

14.6 tON (VDD) and tOFF (VDD) Time
The tON (VDD) time is defined as the time taken by the output of the device to rise 90% after the supply has risen
past the supply threshold. The 90% measurement is used to provide the timing of the device turning on in the
system. Figure 14-6 shows the setup used to measure turn on time, denoted by the symbol tON (VDD)

14.7 Transition Time
Transition time is defined as the time taken by the output of the device to rise or fall 10% after the control signal
has risen or fallen past the logic threshold. The 10% transition measurement is utilized to provide the timing of
the device. System level timing can then account for the time constant added from the load resistance and load
capacitance. Figure 14-7 shows the setup used to measure transition time, denoted by the symbol tTRANSITION.
